Position Title: Disaster Resilience Americorps Vista Member
Program: Vardaman Family Life Center, Vardaman, MS
The Catholic Charities office in Vardaman, MS is seeking a qualified person to fill the Disaster Resilience Americorps Vista position. This is a great opportunity to help non-English speaking people be prepared for natural disasters and to build your professional skills in working with community groups and local emergency management.
The VISTA member will assess cultural and language barriers to effective disaster preparedness, build partnerships, create momentum for community engagement and conduct public education and outreach. Working through the Catholic Charities office in Vardaman, Mississippi, the VISTA Member will serve as a liaison with local emergency management and collaborate with the influencers, local civic leaders and the community that is served.
The AmeriCorps VISTA member will receive a bi-weekly subsistence allowance. Mileage reimbursement will be provided.

This is a part-time relief position. Shifts to be assigned can be any time from 7 am -3 pm, 3 pm - 6 pm, Monday thru Friday.

Primary Responsibilities: The Relief House Manager of the Guardian Shelter/Natchez Rapid Re-Housing Program is responsible for the operation of the shelter and assisting clients enrolled in the supportive service program; screening crisis calls, making referrals to other agencies when appropriate, and admitting/discharging clients with instructions of Social Worker and/or Program Director. THERAPEUTIC ASSISTANT: Hope Haven residential crisis program looking for a Therapeutic Assistant to provide direct care services to youth ages 12 to 18. The Therapeutic Assistant will assist in carrying out all activities and tasks with the residents that occur on the shift and relating these activities back to the youth’s treatment plan and to provide for their well being and safety. Title: Crisis Intervention Specialist
Program: Hope Haven Home Based
Job Description—This position is full-time. It provides family friendly mental health services for identified youth and their families. Duties include treatment planning, discharge planning, individual, family therapy and related documentation. You are required to participate in an on-call rotation serving clients who contact our 24/7 crisis line. Emphasis on empowerment and partnerships of families with support from the community is also our focus. Work schedule is flexible and will include afternoons, early evenings and some weekends, but will change according to the school year. Provide intensive home-based crisis intervention and case management services to families of children and youth with serious emotional disorders who are served by Hope Haven Adolescent Crisis Center. Use specified treatment modalities such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy TF-CBT), cognitive behavioral therapy when appropriate; as well as other types of treatments such as wraparound principals, that will assist youth and family in reaching their treatment objectives. Administer the Child and Adolescent functional Assessment Scale (CAFAS) and North Shore Checklist, as well as be trained in Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress. (SPARCS); provide wraparound services and assist case manager with the information needed to complete the wraparound meetings on youth during service delivery Crisis intake, intervention and follow-up with families and youth who have been referred through the mobile crisis response system.
Work closely with families’ informal supports and other service providers regarding family strengths, needs and goals. May be responsible for developing the individualized service team for the family or serve on those developed by other programs. Complete all required paperwork and keep files current as per accreditation and certification standards. Participate in all scheduled in service trainings, weekly supervision with Home Based Director, scheduled monthly staff meetings and weekly review of records. Job Description: The primary function is to recruit, conduct SAFE home studies on prospective adoptive families, post-placement supervision, home visits, and reports on children in adoptive placements. The Adoption Specialist is also responsible for planning and/or conducting state-wide foster parent trainings for DHS Resource Parents and Licensed Child Placing Agencies, and assisting Program Specialist in maintaining the on-line resource library. Job Description: The Shelter for Battered Families is seeking part-time relief workers who will screen and admit emergencies during weekends, weekdays, and holidays. Duties include maintaining the day to day order of the shelter activities across the weekend including assignment of rooms, general orientation to new admissions, completion of initial paperwork, supervision of meals, maintaining and recording calls, and supervision of chores. Shift varies from Friday-4:30pm to Saturday-4:30pm and Saturday 4:30pm thru Sunday-4:30pm. Some flexibility is needed to work some daytime and holidays as needed.
