TWENTY FIVE MISSISSIPPI COUNTIES AFFECTED BY FLOODING MARCH 9-13

DONATIONS & VOLUNTEER SUPPORT NEEDED FOR OUR NEIGHBORS AFFECTED BY TORNADOES OR FLOODING

Fifteen counties reported damage and flooding for severe weather Dec. 23-25, including communities in or near Clarksdale, Sardis, Holly Springs, Faulkner and Amory with Holly Springs as the hardest hit area. This extremely long-track tornado was believed to have been on the ground for at least two hours producing damage up to EF4 intensity and covering an area of up to 150 miles.

Monetary donations (including gift cards) are being requested to help the victims with their immediate needs and with the long-term efforts of rebuilding their lives. Collected funds can be sent to Catholic Charities, Jackson whose role is to assess needs of families and individuals, provide direct assistance and connect them with other service providers.  Those who prefer making a direct donation to Catholic Charities may do so at the link below.  For more information, contact Dorothy Balser at Catholic Charities:  dorothy.balser@ccjackson.org or 601-326-3725.

Volunteer support is needed for skilled labor in the Holly Springs area providing help with debris removal and home repair or building.  Interested persons can contact Lois Harrison at Sacred Heart Southern Missions:  lharrison@shsm.org or (901) 626-5432, or by visiting the volunteering link below.
