Disaster Preparedness & Response 

 
It has been four years since the Gulf Coast was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Catholic Charities, Inc. Long-Term Recovery Program, along with your generous donations was successful in providing a vast amount of case management services that included locating housing for the displaced, rebuilding damaged and destroyed homes, and providing assistance in achieving sustainability. We have since transitioned from the long-term recovery efforts to disaster preparedness and response.
 
The Disaster Preparedness and Response program opened its doors September 1, 2009. The mission of this program is to implement a comprehensive disaster preparedness and response program across the diocese. The objective is to prepare the agency, the Diocese of Jackson and the surrounding community for effective and coordinated responses to emergencies. The purpose of the Disaster Preparedness and Response program is to equip the community, agency, and diocese with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect themselves and respond in the wake of a disaster. In doing so, future disaster response efforts will prove to be more successful in preparedness and response, because the community will be trained and ready.
